NASHVILLE, TN Apr 07, 2000 Medpearl.com, Inc., a leading e-health company that provides HIPAA-compliant, clinical/financial workflow solutions for the healthcare industry, today announced that it has contracted with Business Computer Applications (BCA), a company specializing in providing information technology products and services to government-qualified health plans.
Under the terms of the agreement, Medpearl grants BCA exclusive marketing rights to resell Medpearl's e-Solution to prisons and other federal, state, county, and municipal correctional facilities around the country. BCA also has non-exclusive rights to resell Medpearl to the ambulatory healthcare market.
BCA was instrumental in placing the Medpearl solution in the high-tech Cyb-R-Care program recently launched at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), in association with a sophisticated managed-care contract. This is the first in a series of solutions that BCA expects to market more widely to correctional facilities, as well as the private market.
"In essence, BCA will act as an adjunct sales force for Medpearl in the prison niche market," explains Neale Attenborough, CEO of Medpearl.com. "Additionally, BCA has marketing rights to the ambulatory physician marketplace, including physician practices, management service organizations, integrated delivery networks, and other physician organizations."
"Our mission is to assist this specialty market in meeting federal and state mandates to offer quality patient care," says Albert Woodard, President of BCA. "Teaming up with Medpearl is a natural step in maintaining and enhancing the services and solutions we provide, and in assuring that we continue to streamline costs while offering quality managed healthcare."
Both BCA and Medpearl will be responsible for training users as well as for customizing the Medpearl software to meet the needs of individual institutions. Medpearl will provide information and support materials to BCA, as necessary.
"The success of the Cyb-R-Care program at UTMB demonstrates that this dynamic solution effectively provides the services required in this unique market space," asserts Attenborough. "Medpearl's clinical system meets the special needs of correctional facilities for security, cost-effectiveness and quality patient care."
