ABA 2000's Tampa Bay Thunderdawgs Franchise Signs Kwan Johnson And Dominick Young As First Players In New Pro Basketball League

The Tampa Bay ThunderDawgs, of the new ABA 2000 men's professional basketball league, set to host a formal press conference in Los Angeles next week (Oct. 5) to announce its creation, revealed today that they have signed 6'3" Kwan Johnson of the University of New Orleans and 5'9" Dominick Young of Fresno State. This is not only a historic step for the ThunderDawgs but also for the ABA 2000 whose inaugural season tips off on Dec. 26, 2000.

"It's very exciting to sign those first players," states Gregory Smith, General Manager for the ThunderDawgs.

"Kwan has one of the sweetest cross-over dribbles I have ever seen and Dominick has the speed and the 3-point shot ability that we were looking for. They are going to drive defenders crazy."

While at the University of New Orleans, Johnson consistently averaged in double figures and was always considered an offensive threat. At 213 pounds, he has the size and strength to drive the lane and fight for every rebound. When asked why his nickname in college was "ju don't no," Kwan modestly replied, "If you don't know about my cross-over, you soon will."

Under Coach Tarkanian at Fresno State, Young showed off his speed, 3-point ability and he was not afraid to take the big shot. He was one of the team's top scorers, their assist leader and was considered by many to be the top point guard in the country his senior year.

Kwan and Dominick recently played together on the Pennsylvania Valley Dogs of the USBL.
